RESEARCH INTERESTS & BACKGROUND:
Dr. Joseph Drake joined the lab in November 2024 to work with Dr. Peterman to use multiscale abundance modeling to better target future habitat investments for pheasants across the United States. He previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher with the Mims Lab at Virginia Tech on the SMARTSIM project solving critical conservation issues for multiple stakeholders. He received his PhD (2021) at UMass - Amherst and his M.Sc. (2016) from Texas Tech University. Generally, he is interested in the intersection of landscape connectivity and population dynamics, bringing conservation, management, and spatial ecological theory into more holistic approaches. |
