RESEARCH INTERESTS & BACKGROUND:
I joined the Peterman Lab as an undergraduate in 2019 to assist with AHDriFT (Adapted-Hunt Drift Fence Technique) image processing for the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake project supported by the Ohio Department of Transportation. During this time, I also examined the herpetological recolonization of an area recently surface mined for coal.

I am currently involved with Phase 2 of the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake project, which involves testing different configurations of AHDriFT arrays and surveying portions of the state where massasaugas previously occurred to help inform their current distribution and future conservation actions. Additionally, I’ve been using AHDriFT images to identify individual rattlesnakes. My thesis will investigate questions related to landscape ecology, historical land use and agriculture as they relate to the Eastern Massasauga and other members of its ecological community.
